FAQs about Egypt?

Is it safe to travel to Egypt?

Egypt is a safe country to visit, with a remarkably low crime rate, tourist attractions are well secured and there is no common negative attitude towards foreigners; with some sensible precautions and preparations you will feel at home and as safe as ever.

What to wear when visiting Egypt?

There is no special dress code for visiting Egypt’s tourist sites, modest dress is recommended at fewer tourist sites and there is no special concern for women traveling alone.

Is Egypt safe for women traveling alone?

Many women travel alone in Egypt and feel that they are safe. Tourist and military police are always close to all tourist sites, and Egyptians themselves are generally safe and try to protect solo female travelers. In general, Egypt is safer for solo travelers than other places such as Greece, Italy or Spain. Please be sure to take the same precautions you would take anywhere else and do not tend to walk alone in deserted areas: take a cab to your residence! You may receive some invitations, all of them innocent, which you should not accept from strangers.

What to bring when traveling to Egypt?

You can buy most things in Egypt, but there are a few things you should bring if you want to, such as sunscreen, a full hat to protect your face from the sun, a lock for your luggage, and any medications you take, except, of course, the forbidden ones. Egyptian pharmacies are very good, but the medications may have names unfamiliar to you. A pair of comfortable walking shoes is a must for touring the ancient Egyptian sites. Don’t forget that the most important thing to bring is your camera for memorable photos. Good luck and we hope you enjoy your trip and have a great time.

What is the best time to visit Egypt?

The best time to visit Egypt is autumn (September – November) and spring (February – April). The climate is relatively cold from December to January, except in the south, where the winter is very mild. Summer should sometimes be avoided for climatic reasons. Cairo is hot and attractive in most months from June to August, and most residents vacation during this period, if possible. Upper Egypt and even the Red Sea coast can be uncomfortable during the summer.
