Day by Day itinerary

Day 1:

On the first day, we will be waiting for you at the Cairo airport to give you your visa and help you with immigration checks before taking you to your hotel and dinner at a local restaurant in the evening. If your flight arrives after 9 pm, we will provide you with a cold picnic at the hotel.

Day 2:

After breakfast, we will visit the pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, where the bravest can see inside, dodging the ancient traps left by the builders to deter tomb raiders. Then, with the visit to Egypt’s most famous historical site complete, we will eat a traditional lunch and head to Memphis, Egypt’s first capital, and Saqqara, its necropolis, as well as the famous statue of Ramses II.

Then, after a short rest at the hotel, we will head to Old Cairo, to the medieval area where we will walk along its oldest street, explore the Khan el Khalili market and dine at the famous and historic Mirror Café.

Day 3:

On our third day, we will visit the most emblematic places in the center. We will see the Citadel, explore the Alabaster Mosque, bargain in Khan el Khalili, pass through the Coptic Quarter, have lunch and marvel at the masterpieces of the Egyptian Museum (entrance to the Mummy Room is not included). Then, in the evening, we will dine at a local restaurant.

Day 4:

After another hearty breakfast, we will head to the airport for a flight to Luxor, formerly known as Thebes, from where our Nile cruise will begin. At this fascinating destination, we will visit the Temple of Luxor, perhaps the most enduring image of our trip, and tour the city center in a horse-drawn carriage. Finally, we will take you to the hotel where we will rest until the next day.

Day 5:

Early in the morning, we will head to Karnak Temple, separated from Luxor Temple by the majestic Avenue of the Sphinxes, nearly 2 miles long and lined with hundreds of human-headed sphinxes.

The tour will then continue, crossing east of the Nile to see the Valley of the Kings, where the tombs of some of the most famous pharaohs are located (entrance to Tutankhamun’s tomb costs an additional €16 (US$17.30), approximately). And we will visit the temple of Hatshepsut and the huge Colossi of Memnon.

Then, when we return to the ship, we will sail south on the Nile River to Edfu, enjoying a walk through the Esna locks in the evening.

Day 6:

We start the day visiting the Temple of Edfu, dedicated to the god Horus, the god of heaven. This also happens to be the best preserved and most spectacular temple in the country. Then, we will continue our cruise, sailing to Kom Ombo.

Upon arrival, we will visit the temple, dedicated to the gods Sobek and Horus, whose location makes it one of the most beautiful. Then, at the end of the day, we will continue sailing down the Nile River to Aswan.

Note: the visit to Edfu includes transportation by buggy. If you prefer to travel by other means of transportation, please let the guide know the day before. Opting for a different means of transport incurs an additional charge of € 15 (US$ 16.20) per person.

Day 7:

The day begins with a bus trip to the Abu Simbel Temples, the most famous in all of Egypt, saved from the rising waters of the Nile by a coordinated international effort. We will return to Aswan and, on the way, take a look at the Aswan Dam, one of the most impressive engineering feats of the 20th century.

In addition, we will also visit the Temple of Philae, located on a beautiful island known as the Jewel of the Nile, returning to the ship for lunch. Then, after lunch, we will cruise the region in a falucca (a traditional wooden boat) found along the Nile, returning to the ship at 4 p.m. for the night. Of course, you will have the rest of the afternoon free to enjoy the area at your own pace before turning in for the night!

Day 8:

After breakfast, we will drive you to Aswan airport, where you will take your flight back to Cairo. Once there, you are free to continue with your connecting international flight.

We will adapt the departure time from Aswan depending on the time of your flight from Cairo. If it is an early departure, we will leave Aswan earlier and offer you a continental breakfast or something to take away. If your flight from Cairo is in the afternoon, we will offer you breakfast on board the ship before taking you to Aswan for your flight to Cairo.
