After picking you up from your hotel in Amman, we will drive south of the country towards Madaba, where we will see the Orthodox Church of St. George. This early Byzantine church houses the Mosaic Map of Madaba, which contains the oldest surviving original cartographic representation of the Holy Land and Jerusalem.
We will then drive to Mount Nebo, a high ridge with an incredible panoramic view of the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. According to the Bible, this is where Moses first glimpsed the Promised Land.
Our next stop will be at Shoubak, also known as Montreal, a Crusader castle located in the Arabah Valley. We will explore the medieval fortress and discover its fascinating legends with the help of our expert guide.
Finally, we will head to Petra, where we will spend the night after a delicious dinner at the hotel.
Energized with a hearty breakfast at our hotel in Petra, we will dedicate this day to discovering the secrets of one of the most incredible archaeological sites in the Middle East. Throughout our guided tour of Petra, we will discover the splendor and subsequent decline of the ancient Nabataean capital.
Our route will begin at the Obelisk Tomb, a funerary monument and inexhaustible source of stories, theories and curses. From there, we will walk through the Siq Gorge, a natural canyon just under a mile long that will lead us directly to the iconic façade of the Treasury of Petra, also known as Al Khazneh.
The elaborate architecture of this rock-carved mausoleum and its majestic columns and sculptures will leave you impressed at first sight.
Finally, we will return to the hotel in Petra, where we will have dinner and rest for the next day.
After enjoying a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we will head out for our last day of sightseeing, making our first stop at Little Petra. This smaller archaeological site houses tombs, houses and many other buildings dating back to the Nabataeans.
After exploring Petra’s little sister, we will head further into southern Jordan for an exciting 4WD Jeep tour of the Wadi Rum desert. This 2-hour trip will take us hopping through the arid landscapes of the Middle East. You will be able to see the magnificent natural rock formations of the desert and the vivid colors of the sand and stone.
At the end of three unforgettable days of exploring Jordan, we will start our journey back to Amman.
